WHAT WE ARE ABOUT

  • Skeptics Australia (Tas) Inc is the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Skeptics organisation.
  • We exist to foster the very important idea that belief in anything should be no more than provisional until some supporting evidence is found.
  • We hope to make our community, and society in general, a better place to be in by encouraging people to think critically and logically.
  • We aim to counter a lot of very silly and superstitious ideas for which there is no evidence.
  • We aim to protect people from scamsters, quacks, fraudulent operators and deluded people.
  • We provide a forum for like-minded people to discuss their ideas and thoughts with each other.
Being skeptical does not mean being stodgy or cynical, it simply means adopting a position where evidence is the central guide for belief or non-belief in an idea or proposition.
